On Monday night, December 17, 2018 the Livonia Rotary Club held their Christmas Gathering and Meeting at Leisure’s Restaurant in Lakeville, NY.
The event was well attended by members and guests and during the evening one well known, community oriented Rotarian was recognized for 50 years of membership.  Ralph Parker, proprietor of the Livonia Inn, was presented a plaque to honor his 50 years of commitment to the club.  Ralph joined the Livonia Rotary Club in 1968 and has remained active ever since.
President Steve Gerould presented the plaque and members Sam West, Bill Brennan, and Gary Patterson offered some accolades of Ralph’s many years of volunteerism to the club and community.  It was noted that with his expertise in the restaurant industry Ralph was always very active in setting up and running the Rotary Food Stand at the Hemlock Fairgrounds among many other events the the club takes part in.
Ralph accepted his plaque and never short on words he mentioned some of his memories……Ralph mentioned that he purchased the lumber yard on Commercial Street at an auction in 1968 with his brother and later opened a bank account with local banker Chet Haak.  After he opened the checking account Chet said “by the way, you’re joining Rotary.”
Ralph stated that Rotary gave him opportunity to meet people, nice people, and that these people became his friends.  He mentioned that he enjoys Rotary, likes to help out, likes the camaraderie and is always made to feel welcome!
