About Us – Building Communities – Bridging Contents

The Livonia Rotary Club is one of 7,856 clubs in the USA. Our club is also one of the nation’s older clubs, dating back to the first days of The Great Depression (1929). Rotary International was founded in 1905 by Paul Harris when just a few dozen businessmen in Chicago began holding weekly meetings. Today there are more than 1.24 million Rotarians in 33,855 Rotary Clubs in 211 countries.

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise, and in particular, to encourage and foster:

First

The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

Third

The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his or her personal, business and community life:

Second

High ethical standards in meeting business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his or her occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

Fourth

The advancement of international understanding, goodwill; and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
